Why did you choose your career?

When i was a child, I love all the things of the nature, animals especially, I had a lot of hamsters, two cats and a dog. With them I had a very fun childhood. In the back of my yard was a river, in which i spent most of the time, throwing stones, looking for insects, building bows, arrows and spears with tree branches. All of this contact with the earth made me generate an early love for biology.

Then when i got older, the technology made me his slave, I became interested in programming and nothing mattered me more than spend all the time I could in the computer. When I discovered that the programming involved know much of mathematics and calculus i had lost interest in it.

When i was in seventh grade, i started having biology and chemistry, both with the same teacher and at that time they began to be my favorite subjects. I loved to know how cells functioned, that they were composed and how that was combined with the chemistry. I was closer to the biochemistry.

Then, while i was in secondary education, I was more and more sure to study something related to biological research. And in the last year i decided for biochemistry, because i started to feel attraction for the astrobiology, the study of life in other planets, the discovery of organic molecules in meteorites, colonize other galaxies and a lot of other interesting things.

Getting to know each other...

Hi everyone! I`m Pablo I. Farías J. A first year student of biochemistry who in addition to get passionate with science, loves the art, especially the theater and the music. I learned to play the guitar at the age of 7 and at 10 i started to play the violin in a orchestra. When i entered to the highschool at the Liceo Oscar Castro Zuñiga of Rancagua, i was invited to the theater club and there i was made the best friends i could find and made me reflect on how art affects in the society and the way we see the life. Meanwhile the artistic part grew on me, other grew too, the interest of how works our mind, our body, where comes the life and so many questions that made me reach the career that i study today.
